New Year Resolutions

New Year resolutions are in order for the first part of the year!

During the day, granting oneself more little "foodie" breaks.
No sooner said than done. This weekend, I discovered the tea “étoile de neiges” flavored with orange peel and sprinkled with little silvery balls of sugar.
This accompanied by, of course, an epiphany cake.

To purify a little the decoration in the house. To install a former workshop chair metamorphosed into a useful bedside table.

To note down all my appointments in my diary, reminding me also everyday that it is important to make time for those who are near and dear.

Eat a cake

Having admired for as long as I can remember and often hoped to retrieve during my search for antique objects, it is here on a Saturday at the flea market of Sommières that I discover a batch of former brass letters from a sign.

To begin with, surprised by the quantity of letters and their different sizes, I’m then curious to see which words I can create.
I hastily ask their price which proves to be more than reasonable... a bargain!
I take each letter one by one, searching for words... and then finally I choose to write the words "cake" and "eat" that I can already imagine attached to the wall or placed on a shelf in the kitchen.

It is immediately, on arrival at home, that I show this find to my family and it is finally Philippe who has the idea to join the two words together with an "a" chosen out of a selection of small letters that I had also retrieved.

A quick clean and the same afternoon, "Eat a Cake" is attached to the wall of the kitchen, above the stove that is also partly ornamented with brass.
I hesitated a long while, thinking of how to adorn this empty wall and then, at this very moment, it seemed obvious. It is at moments like these that I say to myself that retrieving antique or used objects still brings to me the same amount of joy and satisfaction.

Star Light

Rediscovering a child’s heart by applying the stickers of Nath to antique glass jars.
Filling them with golden stars to embellish them with magic...then placing a candle inside that flickers gently.

Half in Jest Half in Earnest

Summer continues in the south of France and the grape harvest animates this beautiful month of September. To fill a wicker basket with fruit of the season and display them on a wicker tray found in a flea market.

To wear my pearl necklace tracked down in a car boot. To arrange the zinc watering cans, beautifully decorated in an antique child’s bed. And simply hoping for a lovely weekend.

The Wooden Star

Inspired by the beautiful stars created by Florence Bouvier, I have created a star, using pieces of found wood and former glass plungers, to celebrate the arrival of spring.

Other stars shall take form this summer upon our patio to cast light upon our evenings spent relaxing beneath the star lit sky. To make the most of the last Christmas roses left in the garden and display the small clay pots retrieved this weekend.

A Basket of Vitamins

No sooner retrieved, no sooner used!

Here it is filled with fresh leaks and asparagus.
Lemons and limes, for their vitamins, are stored in a former crate for utensils.
And to celebrate the arrival of spring, dressed in a "chlorophyll" green cardigan, a second-hand apron and a pair of espadrilles. Colors that perk one up and put one in a good mood!

Small Purchases

Workshop light in Sur 1 R de Brocante

The warmth of the last few days seems to announce the arrival of spring in the south of France.
A sudden desire to display a few small purchases.
To place in the lounge this studio lamp that I was so happy to retrieve from Nicky on the blog "Sur 1 R de brocante".
To attach on a basket our initials, found at "Bord de Scène" and "Broc'Charme".
To wear without hesitation this white blouse that had captured my eye in a flea market and to brighten it with a chain necklace from "Côté Bastide".

Traces of Time

Doll's head placed under an old globe Tape measure marked by the tracks of time

I am forever sensitive to the marks left by time on antique objects.
How can one resist the charm of this dressmaker’s metre with its marks that bear witness to the passage of time: worn, rendered yellow, marked but not devoid of charm.
To find pleasure in the harmony between old and new, like this adorable doll’s head, placed beneath an old glass globe.
